MGHPDS Mobile App – MGH Center for Women’s Mental Health

Are you pregnant? Do you own a smartphone?

Postpartum depression (PPD) is the most common complication women experience following the birth of a child. While 10-15% of women may suffer from this disorder, postpartum depression is frequently undiagnosed and untreated. This can lead to lasting negative effects not only for the mother, but also for her child.

The MGH Perinatal Depression Scale (MGHPDS) is a free tool that, with your help, will refine how women around the world are screened for postpartum depression. This app includes questionnaires about mood, anxiety, sleep, and stress at important time points during pregnancy and the postpartum period. These questionnaires will give a better sense of how you are feeling during this important time.

This is a research study completed entirely on your smartphone. The Center for Women’s Mental Health at Massachusetts General Hospital seeks women who are pregnant or have recently delivered and who are between ages 18-45. The research study involves brief questionnaires to be completed on your smartphone through our app.
